The 15 lessons in Numbers (1) provide initial instruction or intervention on numbers and operations.

The first five lessons develop number sense and conceptual understandings of number operations.
M1.1 Order of Operations (NOTE - THIS LESSON HAS A SYNCING PROBLEM. AN UPDATE WILL COME SOON. MUCH OF THE SAME MATERIAL IS COVERED IN A1.5 - EXPRESSIONS AND OPERATIONS)
M1.2 Divisibility Rules
M1.3 Properties of Addition and Multiplication and Inverse Operations
M1.4 Distributive Property
M1.5 Estimation

The next five lessons focus on whole number operations. To deepen understanding of the base-ten number system, students perform operations involving larger numbers. As recommended by NCTM, “Students should use a variety of models and contexts when exploring whole number operations.” The lessons in this module present alternative algorithms for solving problems that involve whole number operations with large numbers. Here, the objective is not to teach the student how to perform these operations quickly, but to have them gain an understanding of the ideas behind the operations. Once they grasp the concept, the speed will come.
M2.1 Large Numbers: Addition
M2.2 Large Numbers: Subtraction
M2.3 Large Numbers: Multiplication
M2.4 Large Numbers: Division
M2.5 Problem Solving Strategies

The last five lessons in this group develop an understanding of the meaning and effects of arithmetic operations involving integers. Students use two types of representations – two-colored counters and number lines – to model integer concepts and problem solving with the four basic operations involving integers. The mathematical rules are then presented.
M3.1 Integers and Absolute Value
M3.2 Adding Integers
M3.3 Subtracting Integers
M3.4 Multiplying and Dividing Integers
M3.5 Solving Problems with Integers
